Ours is a religion of experiencing the Life of Christ within ourselves and of allowing that Life to take over our own lives. God does not call us to be His persons, but a people, serving Him in unity.

  There was a brightness in the weather and in faces of Friends as we gathered on the South porch of Stillwater meetinghouse to register for Yearly Meeting. Our smiles reflected the greetings of those we had not seen for a while, those we had only seen on a screen, and others we were meeting for the first time.   Quakers migrated to this area in South Central Ohio in the early 1800’s from Belmont County and established the village of Chesterhill in 1834.  The first meetinghouse was built in that year.  The current meetinghouse was built in 1839 following a major migration of Quakers into the area. This was a result of the National Road going through Belmont County causing a rise in land prices.
