A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLING OF SOME OF THE PRINCIPLES AND BELIEFS OF OUR FAITH  AS EXPRESSED IN THE SCRIPTURES OF TRUTH
(AFTER THE MANNER OF ROBERT BARCLAY’S CONFESSION OF FAITH Henry Jason)

 1.  GOD AND THE TRUE SAVING KNOWLEDGE OF HIM

There is one God, who is Spirit, who is Light. God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all. Sanctified followers have received the Spirit which is from God.
Eph 4:6; John 4:24, 1John 1:5; Rom 8:15

  1. THE GUIDE AND RULE OF CHRISTIANS

Christ gave His sanctified followers a comforter, the Spirit of Truth, which dwells with them and is in them. For all who are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God. This divine Anointing abides in them and teaches them about all things and is Truth.
John 14:16,17; Rom 8:9,14; 1John 2:27

  1. THE SCRIPTURES OF TRUTH

All scripture was given through inspiration from God and is profitable for doctrine, correction and instruction in righteousness.
2Tim 3:15-17

  1. THE DIVINITY AND ETERNAL EXISTENCE OF CHRIST

The divine Word of God, which is eternal, became fully embodied in Jesus
John 1:14; Col 2:9

  1. CHRIST’S APPEARANCE IN JESUS

Christ Jesus died for our sins. He died, was buried, and rose according to the Scriptures.
1Cor 15:3,4

  1. THE GOAL AND APPLICATION OF HIS APPEARANCE

God’s Son was sent to condemn sin. He was manifested to take away sins, obtaining eternal redemption for us to purge our consciences from doing dead works, in order for us to serve the living God. Our ancient Jewish forefathers drank from that spiritual rock that followed them, i.e., Christ. Christ left us an example that we should follow in His steps that we may know Him and the power of His resurrection, to attain resurrection from the dead.
Rom 8:3; 1John 3:5; Heb 9:12; Heb 9:14; 1Cor 10:1-4; 1Pet 2:21; Phil 3:10

  1. THE MANIFESTATION OF CHRIST WITHIN US

Christ is standing at the door and knocking. He will come in to them who open the door for Him, and will dine with them. Christ is in us, unless we have failed the test. Christ within is the hope of glory.
Rev 3:20; 2Cor 13:5; Col 1:27

  1. THE NEW BIRTH, REGENERATION

Unless a man is born again, from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature.
John 3:3; 2Cor 5:17

  1. THE UNITY OF SANCTIFIED FOLLOWERS WITH CHRIST

They who are sanctified are made partakers of the divine nature.
Heb 2:11; 2Pet 1:4

  1. THE UNIVERSAL LOVE AND GRACE OF GOD

God gave His Son that whoever believes in Him may have everlasting Life. He was a propitiation for our sins and for the sins of the whole world, wishing all to be saved and come to knowledge of Truth, that all should come to repentance, a change of heart.
John 3:16; 1John 2:1,2; 1Tim 2:4; 2Pet 3:9

  1. THE LIGHT THAT ENLIGHTENS EVERY MAN

The gospel was preached in every creature under heaven, which gospel is the power of God for salvation to them who believe in it. This was the true Light which enlightens every man who comes into the world, the Light by which all things that are reprovable are made manifest. A manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with. For the grace of God has appeared to all men, teaching us that we should live gravely, righteously and godly. This Word of faith is in the mouth and in the heart. For God has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, and we have this treasure in earthen vessels. For the Kingdom of God is within us.
Col: 1:23; Rom 1:16; John 1:9; Eph 5:13,14; 1Cor 12:7; Tit 2:11,12; Rom 10:8; 2Cor 4:6,7; Luke 17:20,21

  1. FAITH AND JUSTIFICATION

For faith without works being dead, is by works made complete. We are saved by a washing of regeneration and a renewing by the Holy Spirit.
James 2:23,26; 1Tit 3:5

  1. GOOD WORKS

For God will render to every man according to his deeds, according to His righteous judgment to them.
Rom 2:5-7

  1. PERFECTION OR FULL SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

There is no condemnation of those who are in Christ Jesus, those who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord” shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Only he who does the will of the Father.
Rom 8:1; Matt 7:21

  1. PERSEVERANCE AND FALLING FROM GRACE

For he who does not abide in Christ, is cast forth, and is withered.
John 15:6

  1. THE CHURCH AND MINISTRY

They are the church of God who are sanctified in Christ Jesus. If anyone speaks, it must be as the words of God; if anyone ministers, he must do it from the strength which God provides.
1Cor 1:2; 1Pet 4:10,11

  1. WORSHIP

The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and Truth, for the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit and they who worship must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
John 4:23,24

  1. BAPTISM

As there is one Lord, one faith, so there is one baptism, not the removal of the dirt from the body but the response of a good conscience towards God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As many as are baptized into Christ Jesus, they are baptized into his death, so that we too might walk in newness of Life.
1Pet 3:21,22: Rom 6:3

  1. ON EATING BREAD AND WINE

For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. It was not Moses who gave you the bread from Heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives Life to the world. I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. For this is indeed the will of my father, that all who see the Son and believe in Him may have eternal life.
1Cor 11:25; John 6:32,33,35,40

  1. ON THE LIBERTY OF SUCH CHRISTIANS AS HAVE COME TO KNOW THE SUBSTANCE, AS TO NOT PERFORMING THIS RITE

If we are dead with Christ from the elemental spirits of the world, why are we, as if living in the world, subject to regulations?
Col 2:21

  1. ON MAKING OATHS, FIGHTING AND PERSECUTION

Christ says to us, do not swear at all. Let your communication be yes, yes; no, no.

Wars and fights come from the cravings that wage war in our body parts. Christ commands us not to resist evil. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matt 5:33-37; James 4:1,2; Matt 5:39; Matt 5:10

  1. GOVERNMENTAL AUTHORITY

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities; for there is no power except from God. Yet it is right in the sight of God, to listen to Him, more than to them.
Rom 13:1; Acts 4:19

  1. RESURRECTION

There shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the righteous and the unrighteous; they that have done good, to the resurrection of Life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
Acts 24:15; 1Cor 15:35-58
