Our Faith

Ours is a religion of experiencing the Life of Christ within ourselves and of allowing that Life to take over our own.

We know the living God.

We know the spirit which overcomes the world and lives beyond the body.

As we read the Bible, we recognize that this spirit is the spirit of Christ Jesus, who is written about there.   We discover that only this Spirit of Christ, which inspired what is written in scripture, is able to interpret it to us.  

We Friends acknowledge that, although Scripture is loaded with truths, Truth itself is beyond the ability of any human writing, even that inspired by Christ to fully convey Truth or for any human intellect or understanding to fully grasp Truth. However, the experience that we have of Christ, God speaking, is consistent with and validates the truths we find in Scripture. We turn to Him, Christ, for our own personal glimpse of Truth but believe that that will not conflict with the truths of Scripture as revealed by Him. We are reminded, however, by Paul to look at ALL Scripture for instruction, not to pick and choose the verses that flatter our own desires and notions.

It is this spirit of Christ that feeds our souls daily with the bread of love, hope, joy, and peace.

The spirit of Christ, as it lives within us, is a light that reveals all that is in our hearts, even our darkest secrets.

This life has the power to change us – to remove what is bad from our hearts and thoughts and replace it with good. This is the work of the daily cross.
